Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty
Last month, I was fortunate enough to visit the Costume Institute Gala's presentation of "Alexander McQueen's: Savage Beauty" exhibit at the MET. I was left speechless. McQueen was a Visionary, and his work was both eclectic and beautiful in very different ways. The show, which features approx 100 garments and 70 accessories from the McQueen archives as well as private collections, traces the designer's work from his post-graduate collection in 1992 (based on the legend of Jack the Ripper), through his time as creative director of Givenchy. Over 660,000 visitors viewed the exhibition during its run from early may to August 7th, making it the most-viewed show since 1946.
"I find beauty in the grotesque, like most artists. I have to force people to look at things."
-Alexander McQueen
